The latest in a list of singer-cum-designers is Janet Jackson who launched her lingerie line Pleasure Principle in August of 2008 soon to hit stores in the US.

Janet Jackson’ newest endeavor is a diverse line of lingerie distributed by Jupi Corp and designed along with Australian designer Bruno Schiavi, called Pleasure Principle. While the line was officially released on August 20 of 2008, it is set to hit stores in the US in November 2008 and can be pre-ordered at the Jupi Corporation website.

The Pleasure Principle Philosophy

As Schiavi explains in the official press release (August 20, 2008), “Janet and I wanted to create a collection that empowers women and that makes women feel sexy, flirtatious and provocative. We wanted to make sure we captured the essence of all Janet's favorite colors, laces and making sure that we stay true to who she is and what she loves."

“There’s something for every woman and that was very important to us,” said Janet in a press conference with USA Today on August 22. “It makes you feel incredible and offers variety as diverse as the women who will wear it," says Jackson, of the line which ranges in sizes from 32A to 44G and colors from classic black and white to Burgundy.

The line is named after Janet’s 1986 single “Pleasure Principle” from the album Control and is her first foray into fashion design. With plans to expand into stores overseas in Japan and Australia they are also planning to expand the line in 2009 and are already working on more lines together.

“We threw a couple of names around. It has to be something I feel some sort of connection to,” Janet said about the naming of her line in an exclusive interview with Access Hollywood’s Nancy Odell on August 22nd, 2008.

Bruno Schiavi’s Contribution

Bruno Schiavi is a designer from Australia who in six years has launched lingerie lines in six countries including the popular Dr. Rey’s Shapewear line. He also is the president of Jupi Corporation which he started with only $2,000 in startup money.

He is behind some of the most popular fashion products in the US, Australia and Europe including the late-'90s “Pocket Sock” a sock which promises to keep your keys, loose change and other valuable safe in a zippered pocket.

This is his first endeavor with Janet Jackson, but he has worked with other celebrities before including Dr. Rey from the show Dr. 90210, and Priscilla Presley, on her line of luxury linens and homewares called “Priscilla Presley Collection” which can also be found on the Jupi Corporation website.
